Anyone who thinks that is valid needs to learn something about reality! Even if the wildest most unlikely dreams (which are the ones most often seen) were to come true (which isn't going to happen anyway), it wouldn't do much more than drop the price of gasoline by a few pennies. Insignificant.

The bottom line:

1) There are billions of barrels of oil just waiting to be tapped.

You just said we don't know that at all. Why are you contradicting yourself?

2) It can be extracted with almost no environmental impact.

You already know that one is a lie, why are you repeating it? Does 400 toxic spills a year at Prudhoe Bay sound like no impact? Does a couple million gallons of toxic spills from 1995 to 2005 sound like no impact? Does almost a million gallons in 2007 mean no impact? Has BP been fined millions of dollars for illegal impacts because it isn't negative? The Central Arctic caribou herd is now six time larger than it was before oil production at Prudhoe bay, yet there is a 78% reduction in caribou use of the area around the oil: is that no impact?

Please stop being absurd.

3) It would irresponsible of the nation's leaders to NOT make use of our natural resources, especially in such a barren and almost totally unpopulated area.

It would have no benefits other than put money into the pockets of the energy industry and the State of Alaska. Your statement is another absurd claim that is not supported by facts, but merely used to add emotional impact to an unsound policy.

4) You are in a very distinct minority when it comes to the opinions of Alaskans on this issue and you know it

That doesn't deny the fact that I do have the facts straight and don't need to exaggerate and lie repeatedly to support ideological foolishness.

When will your standards rise to that level?

5) It will be drilled, it's just a matter of time.

That won't make it anything less than a total boondoggle.

The 1002 Area of ANWR is not "barren", it is not a "wasteland", and winter is never anything like 9 months of the year.

Who knows? We don't even know why the price of oil dropped $9.00 today. Some believe that increased oil supply with drop fuel prices, while others don't. Place me in the group who believes in the former. I believe that we should not stand still while all those around us (the US) drill for oil to sell. In fact, more drilling it's good for the AK's economy than not. If we can drill in ANWR with todays technologies and done responsibly, why not?

This subject is much like "human-caused global warming" to some while the other side sees things differently. It does not mean, however, that one should try to silence the other side. After all, these are only opinions, and everything degenerates into insulting each other instead of maintaining a sane dialog.

In my view, the things the politician in the video talks about make a lot of sense.
