The perfect place for a gent - and for we odd females who actually enjoy going into these sort of places - Sportsman's Warehouse
The stuff I use is Maxi-Deet (I think that's the name, don't go to the bank on it) - it's 98% deet and works wonders. I just spray it on the clothes and it works.

My sister said no sun at all since and very cold. Well no worries folks, winter is just round the corner. bwahahahaha! Sorry, just can't help myself. Just checked the forcast and it shows at least two weeks of drizzle, rain and constant clouds. How I did it for 26 years, I'll never know. Best be going, my golf buddies are calling me.

My husband, myself and our 2 dogs left Alaska mid June, driving down to the lower 48 to visit family in Ohio, Conn. and N.Y. Let me tell you, the heat and humidity was horrible. The States we drove through (PA., Wisconsin, N. Dakota, Minnesota, Illinois) were HOT also.
We returned last week and I couldn't wait to get back up here to the cool temperatures. When you live in Alaska you take the good with the bad as you should know after stating you lived here for 26-years.
P.S. I noted you didn't mention what "perfect" State you are living in now, and hey you gotta remember that just like the saying "Growing old ain't for sissies" - well neither is Alaska.

The husband will be going on a halibut cruise out of Seward this coming weekend and just spoke with the ship's captain - evidently, halibut limits are being caught daily and quickly.
Around here - it is slowly picking up. Rainbow trout, silvers, arctic char, pike, etc...somewhat doing better. I overheard someone at a petrol station yesterday stating that the Kenai peninsula area is faring better - daily limits of Dolly Varden's are being caught; pinks, silvers, and reds are coming in better than it has been. I will defer to Rance whether or not this is true - or anyone else in that area.

The Reds on the Kasilof are doing particularly well this year. In one day they had a 68,000 return count. I'm hoping the Silvers on the Little Su will start picking up this week.

It got up to 103* here today with 60% humidity. I just finished watersealing the lattice on our deck. When I came into the house my shirt was clinging to me & my face was wet.

I'm with Rance. I'd take that weather over the brutal sun and temps down here in Texas any day. And I do love Texas, just not the weather in the Summer so much. It's six inches from the sun for crying out loud!!!!
