Default I am considering a Move to Alaska

Hi,
I'm a 26 yr-old female living in the mountains in CO right now and am considering a move to Alaska. I would like a town that is small and homey, but at the same time has a grocery store and running water in the apartment or house. I am also looking for something close to snowboarding. Does anyone have any helpful hints on towns and how easy it is to find a job? I have tons of experience with computers and also bartending. I am also not afraid of having to chop my own wood and stuff. Please let me know if you have some suggestions and hints. Thanks.

If your Norwegian than you should probably think about moving to southeast Alaska.
Petersburg, Sitka, Juneau or Ketchikan should fit your bill.

Palmer and Wasilla are small towns just outside of Hatcher Pass which is very popular among snowboarders. Valdez is also a small town that is noted for its skiing and snowboarding in Thompson Pass. Girdwood is another small town that caters to skiers and snowboarders at Mount Alyeska, but is it more on the expensive side that the other towns I mentioned.

Why are there more Norwegians there? I have lived in the US since I was 1 yr. old. I was kinda thinking farther into Alaska.

For southeast Alaska, I believe Juneau has the only ski area (Eaglecrest). It's a town of 30,000 though.

Southeast has a large Norwegian population that started back in the "day" mainly due to the fishing industry. When it's 40 below zero in Fairbanks the 40 above in Ketchikan looks pretty good...

You'd probably like Palmer. It isn't too tough to get a job there. In fact, there are a few lodges in the Hatcher Pass area that do some hiring. I wish I could remember more specifics about them, but I think that a couple of them offer room and board to employees. You might want to look here:
