Default Old Harbor, AK, lodging

We're looking to fish out of Old Harbor next summer, but I can't find accommodations. Is there anything nearby? Is it a worthwhile fishing location? We really want to fish Kodiak, so any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Sharon

Sharon, it depends what you're fishing for. Old Harbor was not the premier fishing destination on Kodiak when I left 8 yrs ago, although anywhere around Kodiak is excellent. I suppose you could do well with halibut but not sure about good stream fishing for salmon. There is also supposedly a small pocket of king crab around Old Harbor and I'm not sure if you can sport fish for them but that might be worth checking into. A friend had a salmon/trout/steelhead fishing service around the corner from Old Harbor in Akhiok.
For salmon river fishing the popular rivers are the Karluk or Ayakulik.
