Are There AA in Alaska?
I just want to know if there are Any African Americans in Alaska? 
When I visit will i be the only one? |

haha,
I thought this thread was going to be about Alcoholics Anonymous.
Anchorage is about 5% black and it goes down considerably once outside of the city.

I think Juneau has a small but noticeable population too. A lot of the Anchorage population is military related with an Army base and an Air Force Base being there too. Fairbanks is another city that is smaller, but has a decent Black community due to the Army and Air Bases there as well. Actually, at one time, Fairbanks had a Black mayor. Check this out: James C. Unless things have changed a lot since I left, there are quite a few, both in the town where I lived and in Anchorage. Most but not all were retired military who decided to stay - not so much overt prejudice as in other parts of the Lower 48. Others just came, liked it, and stayed for whatever reasons. |

There a few good ones out here in the Bethel area, too. And kids that want to be like rappers, kids these days. I don't get them.

I've seen about 8 or 9 AA's in Ketchikan. Maybe a few more over at the canneries but they come and go often.
