It's too bad we didn't think to warn LT about the OTHER dangerous critter lurking in the Alaskan woods between Root 2 and 4, beside the rabid penguins: Boston Dynamics: The Leader in Lifelike Human Simulation

Never doubt the persuasion power of a 1/2 Irish Libra. I took Red with me today to get a feel for the deal. Told her I needed some more powder for reloading and it's time to get her some new boots. See, I slipped in the shoe shopping and Bada Bing, out the door we went.
BPS has a coupla of the kind I'm looking for. So, we go in and take in the sights and get her set up in a pair of Uggs. Went over to the fishing reels and started to mention I could use a couple of new 2 speeds. Hit the counter and picked out a couple of the Accurate Platinum's in the 130 lb class. Sticker shock. 2k ea. She looked at me like I had a hole in my head. So after about 15 minutes I let her pursuade me that I don't really need new reels with the season almost ending and maybe I should wait til June. See the trap?
I nudged her towards the Gun room and let her take it in. Told her "Hey Hon, look at the wall of rifles" She starts looking em over and I've got her in the bolt action section and she starts pointing out the rifles simular to the ones at home.(Did I mention I'm wicked good at this?)
We get down the row and I start getting that warm feeling on the back of my left butt cheek. She goes a few feet further and turns and asks me why are the shotguns down here. Oh baby. I told her they were double rifles, not shotguns. She says "You don't have any like that at home"

Good gawd man..you are in dangerous territory
btw, if the husband is reading this...I really don't care to shop, you know this, but if you get it into your head that you need a new gun or reel...well, what's good for the goose I wouldn't mind a new rifle myself

That is seriously sneaky. But then, every time DH got a gun - of ANY kind - that I actually liked and enjoyed shooting, he'd turn around and trade it for something else. Phooey.

Just to clear things up. Every year since I was about 9 I'd get a new gun for my birthday. Starting with the venerable RedRyder. My O'l man was a Hunting and fishing fool. When I hit 16, if I wanted a new gun I had to buy it. So I got into the habit of tucking away a fiver or a tenner every week in the gun fund. Done it every year for 35 years. So it's a tradition.
Well this year my B-day came and went and with all that's been going on with the famb damily I really did not focus on a new gun for me. Did get Red a nice 870 though. And she likes it.
So the GunFund is kinda fat right about now and I have room in the safe for a couple more. Now remember, Red knows me and my habits better than I do. She knows I'm looking, but she's not sure of what I'm looking for. I figure if I cull through the group and sell a couple I don't use anymore I can darn well afford to buy a 10k rifle, should I choose to. Never have spent that kind of dough on a weapon. No kids to send to school so there.
BTW, I'm a certified Gun Nut. NRA Lifetime member since 74, USMC since 76. 03 all the way baby.
Red's got me beat in the brains department, no doubt. That's why I have to be creative when I thread the needle.
and the story goes on,,,,
