I had a question. I know that you work on the slope and have witnessed how global warming is affecting us. Anywho my mother is writing a short paper for school that needs a quote from someone that can really say how it is affecting them. I figured you are up with all the glaciers and so on that I know that you have an oppinion and have seen stuff. Anyone else can reply also. IF you could would you email her a quote or explination what your job is and where you have witnessed this. I would really appreciate it! I will give you her email if you agree, and to whom ever would like to help.
Once again Thanks! Cynthia ![]() |

I'm with tkx7, didn't it just snow in California? I believe it may be happening but after reasearching historical data, scientific data, I don't think it is very easy to define reasons why. I've heard everything from normal climatic cycles to methane produced by farm animals. Seems to be more of a hot button for politicans than anything else.

All I know is that the glaciers here have receded for a mile or two since 1968. It was 47 above here yesterday and 44 above today. I also heard it was 50 something above at Denali yesterday. It was 10 above in Kuparuk on the northslope (northern arctic coast) 2 days ago.

It did recently snow in Southern California, on the Grapevine going into Los Angelos. I live in central California and it was below freezing for a few weeks now, destroying a lot of our citrus crops...
very cold and unusual weather for us. |

Perhaps it's not global warming affecting the weather...just global repositioning. Were getting the jet stream right up our skirt. But those dang glaciers are going somewhere. Perhaps I should get a chunk of glacial ice and throw in the freezer, and preserve it for future genrations. Also when the glaciers go...so will the ice worms. They may be an endangered species!

I also don't believe in global warming. Yes, Rance. It was in the 40s, but that is nothing unusual. Back in the 80s we had a whole winter of about 2 inches of snow here in Anchorage. It was in the 40s and 50s and we it simply rained. We also had a good solid month of -20 degrees a month or so ago. It snowed in southern Arizona, Texas and other southern states. Yes the glaciers are melting, but that has happened many times over the ages. Maybe we are just witnessing the end of an ice age.

We got snow in Vegas in December, nothing really unusal about that, it happens from time to time. But we just came out of a two week blast freeze that kept ice on the roads around town for two straight weeks. I had never seen ice stick around here for more than a day or two, but for two weeks straight??? Must have been global warming that caused the freeze.
