Skipping the gender issue entirely, I heartly approve of anyone who has the, hmmm, 'guts' to buck their own party when they need to and appears to have the ability to form their own opinion. Also, she appears to be the only canidate in recent memory who might have some connection to the bulk of the working middle class. Don't know much about her, but her starting position is good with me .
OTOH, it looks like the 'dirt digging' has a head start...from the quote above, it looks like there will be quite a bit of background scrutiny already done for her opposition .

I'm from Florida, I'm 62 years old and was a Republican all my life, except the last 2 years. I'm thrilled to see finally a younger generation Republican picked for the VP, I wish we had one for the President but I'll settle for this. Thank you Alaska for you Gov.
I'm also glad to see they picked a women. It's time for a change. Those "OLD IDIOTS" in DC have to go!!

Amen! A 44 year old vice president is what this country needs. Someone who can truly identify with those families that are struggling an can make things happen as she did in Alaska. It doesn't take brains to be pretty or handsome, but it does to run a state and to put your foot down when you don't agree with the politics.

Yea like running a state with the population of Charlotte, North Carolina. I guess that make someone qaulified for VP. The mayor of Charlotte has more on his plate than Palin has as governor

gsoboi,
Thank you for that "enlightening" analysis. Truly, your "great city" of Charlotte must have so much more going on (nationally and internationally of course) than the US's 49th. Pray tell what they may be? Oh second thought, don't. You lost me when you tried to compare the State of Alaska to a mediocre city in NC.
