Default cnc machining jobs in Alaska?

Out of curiousity, are there any companies that do cnc (computer numerical controlled machining) machining? I'm in Wichita, KS, and the vast majority of the companies here that do that work for the aviation companies in one way or another so was wondering if Alaska had anything like that....

Default bigger cities

You'll have much better luck concentrating on the bigger cities, like Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, etc. There's a lot of mom-n-pop machine shops in the small towns, but it's mostly old, old stuff with old, old guys running it. The CNC mills are just so expensive, it's virtually impossible to justify their purchase unless you can keep it very busy.

That said, the mechanical trades are always looking for help, plumbers, pipefitters, heavy-equipment mechanics, electricians, etc. Try the classified on the Anchorage Daily News site for one, and maybe the paper in Fairbanks as well.

You mean manual lathes and mills? I'm learning that in class even though the teacher says I most likely won't use it much. Thanks for the heads up.

We use the CNC mill alot, but I work for an aerospace company, so you may want to look into that route.

I plan to work for an aerospace company here in Wichita, KS, which is the aircraft manufacturing captiol of the world. Seriously. I just need to get work experience and also hopefully earn a welding certificate then after that, I should be ready to move elsewhere.
