One late rule change was made at the request of several mushers. The rules now prevent a dog driver from using any device which could intimidate a following team when that team is within 50 feet. This rule was based on mushers who reported difficulty passing teams which were using ski poles or other implements in a manner that discouraged the following team from passing.

I'm sure mushers in the valley are getting nervous right now. Have lost almost all of the snow out of the yard and the surrounding forest.

I get to take pictures of the start! It starts at noon tomorrow on the freshly frozen river. It looks like it'll be pretty much glare ice the first hundred or so miles.

Ski poles make a high pitch noise that scares the team out back that probably aren't used to hearing the noise.

It may be time for a new thread...
"Will the Bethel have it's unsightly wart removed by the Justice system?"
