Out of respect for Warptman I will post here twice as often until he returns.

Out of respect for Cheeto eaters I will post in orange. Now I must log out and wash my keyboard, that orange stuff gets everywhere.

So I've been hearing that mushers like this race as a warm up for Iditarod.
What makes this race such a challenge?

I believe the challenge here is the unpredictable nature of the weather during the winter. The delta is not known for it's deep snow. The conditions here are usually icy, windy and cold but last year it warmed up above freezing and teams were trying to avoid melt water several feet deep.

Also more recently, there has been the additional challenge of having a purse to award the winners, but I think that's been touched on once or twice earlier in this thread.

LordMyron...it seems your handle is as ostentatious as your assertions (or are they opinions, apparently lost on me as well). If you are really interested in swaying your audience, you might want to dial down your pretentiousness. If you just wanted to put all us with "tiny brains and fast fingers" down you gotta talk in single syllables 'cause that phraseology you keep puttin' out there is wasted on us. In the future try using short sentences like this. You suck!

Thanks Tundra... Who's the favorite to win this year & who are the standouts among the dogs?

I'm thinking Mitch Seavy out of Seward will do good again, he won last years race. He always does good here. As long as Jeff King or Martin Buser doesn't win, I'm happy. It'll be great if a local musher won, that hasn't happened in such a long time. Maybe Mike Williams Jr will do good again, he was up there the first half of the race.
