We had Augustine, across from Homer on the peninsula going a few years ago, three years ago, almost 4 when we visited here from MN I saw puffin" and puffs once in a while since I think. Would not like to be close.....but magnificent if from a distance....

I do recall Augustine...and I did follow that closely as well. Mt.St.Helens is another that I keep my eye on...I remember when she initially blew in 1980 and how the air was so thick with ash. I had been up there prior around the lake - Tootle Lake.

Not swamp, per se, but spongy. It was almost a definitive 'ripple'...but we are a bit closer than 17 miles, from where we live at any rate.
I recall in 1985, I felt my first earthquake and didn't even realize until after. This is my first in Alaska...aside from the moments of vertigo from the light ones.

Cool and you just got dizzy  I didn't even know how bad earthquakes were supposed to be up here...until March...We got here a year ago this past August, I am so stupid....man-guy shoot him in the butt, says you knew that...yah right - I watched the earthquake watcher site for three months, then got over it....If you are spongy - thinks explains...we have had them within 10 miles or so and not felt..I almost wish could have been with ya..
