Ah what a clear and pretty sky tonight, and with a beautiful full moon. Too bad the salmon camera is still not working...

It was unbelievably bright out last night. With all the fresh snow and actually being able to see the moon it was awesome.

Why is it I'm always at work when the moon is out? There's never a moon when I'm at home.

I just moved to Bethel and am dying for an opportunity to see the lights. Anyone know where the best place to get predictions from? Any hints for me down here in Bethel?

Stick a fork in me and turn me over - I'm half done!!!
WOW !!! I don't know what else to say.....
I have got to be exceptional lucky. I just got back in from watching a great aurora display here in Barrow. I went out and saw what looked like whispy green clouds overhead. As I watched -it blossmed into a great show. Directly overhead in a long band across the sky. At one point it looked like flickering green flames, then the "sheets" became visible. The skies were perfectly clear, you could see stars shining through the green then it got intense and the star was gone, in place was a thinks intense band of green curving around and as it cross the sky it straightened out into a whispy cloud. I'm sheilding my eyes from ALL the street lights (there's a lot of them) and bending my head back to try to see it all.
Man oh man, and this is with a KP of 1, I really think I'm going to stay over Christmas as the forcast for Wednesday is 3 - that has got to be even better - though I am impressed with what I saw.
I couldn't see much from the windshadow of the hotel or other buildings so I stood across the street in the wind watching for about 25 minutes. Then is slowly disappeared.
Boy my neck is sore, but the gear kept me warm. I'm going to have a hot drink and go out again at 3am to see if it comes back.
YOU HAVE GOT TO SEE THIS - it is absolutely breathtaking.
Now - after I go to point Barrow tomorrow I will be completely fulfilled in my trip to Barrow.
Well Floyd what did I tell you - we did have clear skies and a nice aurora.
It really makes me feel like - I got the power.
The microwave just binged. I'm going to put on my Clavagator this time so I don't have to wrap my scraf over my face, take out my blanket and prepare to lie on my back and wait to see if it comes back.
This was everything I expected and more. I am one happy camper.
