Ok I'm heading up the road to get in the dark and have a look. Gonna hope to try out my homemade window mount!

Ok it's one cold SOB out there! But I did get a few shots in (see photo thread). Pretty dim lights. Was a good band when I left in the truck but faded by the time I got up the road. I'll give it a few minutes and have another go at it.

Can't see diddly. Wind picked up and blowing snow. Getting low visability.

Yes, but for a few bright stars, our sky went black as pitch. I am downloading photos now...should have a couple up shortly.

Holy Cow I missed alot last night I see. It is not fit for humans outside today up here. I went to bed last night I could still see the light band but couldn't get a good shot. I'm glad a few got to see something last night. It's getting to be that time of year when we'll be able to see them up here more often. Not as much sky cover. John glad to hear your going to make it up. If you end up flying into Anchorage and have a layover at all let us know we'll come pick you up and buy you lunch, dinner, or breakfast whichever fits.

We saw them again from the LV room last night, wasn't as strong as they were on the 1st at 1am but the kids and hubby were more excited (and awake) this time.

Rance your bracket looks good. Get some tape on foam to line it with and you could go in business with that.

Now that the first auroras have come and gone, the second may be close behind. A solar wind stream is buffeting Earth's magnetic field and this could cause more geomagnetic disturbances around the Arctic Circle. High-latitude sky watchers should remain alert for auroras.
