Hi everyone. We arrived safely in Ohio. Thanks to all offering prayers for my poor "back" to make the trip. We made the trip without any problems. We've been very busy looking for a place to live; the days are flying. I've not been on the computer much. My sister has dial-up and I'm spoiled; used to high speed; internet with cable modem lol. Sunday night winds hit Ohio up to 80 mph. Lots of damage. Power is down and not expected to be up until Sunday. Hubby, myself and 2 dogs spending the 2nd nite in a hotel. Kinda need water and electricity .

My first couple days down here were pretty tough. I wanted to run back to Alaska; I felt such a sense of panic. We both miss Alaska. We get bombarded with questions about Alaska and what we think of Sarah Palin when people find out we came here from Alaska. I must say that it is an adjustment for both of us. We have checked out numerous small towns but still have not found one we really like. Needless to say we will be renting, we don't want to buy because then your basically locked in with the way the housing market is.

There have been some hot days with humidity. We laugh when we see some of my family members wearing a flannel type shirt when it's in the 70's. My sister is amazed that some morning temps of 48 feel great to me with a short sleeved top on.

The people in Alaska are definitely friendlier. Drivers here, hmmm, well let's just say they love taking very curved country roads with blind curves at speeds close to 65 to 70 mph. I don't think my husband is too happy here but he's willing to give it a try. I can't say I'm real satisfied either other then being closer to family.

So that's it for now. Take care all.

Glad you arrived safely Pat. My kids have been telling me about the storms knocking out power in the Columbus area. What's the gas situation like up there?

Hi. Gas here was about $3.50 a week and a half ago when we got here. The last day or so it's up to $3.99. Hope all is well with your kids in the Columbus area. What are the gas prices by you?
