That is why there is no "Reservations" per say as in the lower 48 states to "Herd" them to, the Corporations own hundreds of thousands of acres of prime land that they can do with what they please.
There is one place in Alaska with reservation status...anyone care to guess?

Don't see much panhandling on POW...but I can mention plenty of white guys who basically live off of society--welfare girlfriends and the occasional or perhaps not so much batch of meth.

Granny, I recall the library incident. It was written up in the Frontier; people were talking about it then.

I've started wearing my hair down all the time now. Before I'd' kind of twist it up like she does but no more.

If I recall correctly and maybe you can fill me in on the blanks, but when the Metlakatla Reservation was established, they didn't receive the funds that the "Native Corporations" did as well a land allotments in other areas of the State that were outside of their Traditional areas. Was that true?

If so, they did get some benefits though BIA, but lost on other if I read that right. That is why the others didn't want to go the Reservation route.

Do you recall any of the details....

and I agree with you 110%. It is time we get down to what each candidate stands for, I don't think I can remember a more negative campaign.

Again, thanks for a cute thread: I have no idea what my name would be, maybe that is better....

I believe the reservation was established in 1891, quite some time before the Native Claims Act.

If I recall correctly, Metlakatla was asked in 1971 if they wanted to retain reservation status and they chose to do so.

Sarah Palin is over.

She provided an interesting boost to the Republican campaign and her momentum may have had a bit of staying power had she not opened her mouth.

For those of you are are sick of hearing about her, hopefully before long she'll be nothing but a freakish footnote in political history. But like it or not, it's our reality of the moment.
