but when the Metlakatla Reservation was established,

.
I believe the reservation was established in 1891, quite some time before the Native Claims Act.
If I recall correctly, Metlakatla was asked in 1971 if they wanted to retain reservation status and they chose to do so.

Sarah Palin is over.
She provided an interesting boost to the Republican campaign and her momentum may have had a bit of staying power had she not opened her mouth.
For those of you are are sick of hearing about her, hopefully before long she'll be nothing but a freakish footnote in political history. But like it or not, it's our reality of the moment.

Don't see much panhandling on POW...but I can mention plenty of white guys who basically live off of society--welfare girlfriends and the occasional or perhaps not so much batch of meth.

I agree with you about "plenty of white guys" doing such things, but this sort of thing is being done all over Alaska, and by all races. The amount of village and city crime is quite high, and not necessarily by Native Alaskans alone, but by all. Besides, quite a lot of places in Alaska (including Fairbanks, North Pole, etc.), whites, Hispanics, Natives, blacks, and all races populate the same areas. Mu hunting partner is 1/4 Navajo (I believe), and his wife 1/2 Cherokee. Some of my coworkers are either Native, or are married to Native women.

In reality, the news media offers a lot more time than Obama than Palin. Now, that's a guy I am sick of listening to. The simple fact that a lot of people compare Palin to Obama indicates that he is an empty suit (nothing, but the suit). After all, Palin is not running for president, but for vice.

I mistakenly voted in this poll and I'm not from Alaska. Please remove my vote for Obama.

And anyone who can read an actuary table knows the possibility of her claw being a bit too close to the red button. In that sense, she is indeed running for president.

If he's elected I think we'll be hearing that phrase from a lot of people after about a year of him in office.

I am quite sure that most of the people who voted in the poll reflect the majority of the people posting in this forum recently in that they have never set foot in the state of Alaska. Just don't remove your vote from where it really matters....
