Default My experiences

I spent about two years out in Bethel and was not impressed at all. There really isnt anywhere to socialize or meet people and the weather was not at all conducive to outdoor activities. The only place to meet people was at random house parties where everyone was stupidly drunk.

Fast forward a few years and here I am in Kodiak. Kodiak seems to be the complete opposite of Bethel. The weather is warmer, the community is better, there are things to do, and just from doing my daily activities I have noticed much better opportunities to meet people. Not like I'm really going out of my way at the moment to meet women, but I have high hopes for the future.

I always said I would NEVER consider using a computer to find a date but I'm at about my wits end here on the rock. Are there any reputable sites out there specifically for Alaska that aren't just meat markets?? I probably will never use one but lately I'm tempted...

The old saying "the odds are good but the goods are odd" rings very true around here; 2 summer experiences have reinforced that adage for me.

How the HECK do you find a good guy who's not already taken around here, Alaskan ladies??? And I'm sure there are some guys out there asking the same question, vs. vs.
*sigh* I'm not usually all about melodrama or romance at all, by the way...must be something in the air.
Well...this is kind of a two-way street. Some places in Alaska there is hardly any single women at all. (I mean, how many years do you let go by, without ANY dates, at all?). I was faced with exactly that problem, and with the advent of the internet, decided to forge ahead with the "search beyond the border". After years and years and years and years of futile searching in Alaska, I finally found my "other half" at the other end of the continent: Florida. About as far away from Alaska as you can get, and still speak English. Sunshine and I were married about a year later...

Yep. Lucky me. And here's the rest of the story. Before we met, I had this little alarm clock by my bed that would wake me up every morning with the tune "You Are My Sunshine...My Only Sunshine...". And, for some dumb reason, I was looking for BOTH a native American, and a blonde. (how is that ever gonna happen?)
Well, here is where the words "strange coincidences" come into play:
So we meet, she tells me her name is "Sunshine", and that she is half Cherokee. And.... she's blond...
