Green things in March? I don't think I have ever seen anything green, wild that is, until May or maybe late April. I know things will be different here, guess it doesn't matter where you're from, but that's one of the things I look forward to, the differences.
I live in both Alaska and Oregon. One of the things I do appreciate about Oregon is that spring begins very early on the west side of the Cascades. I have no clue where you came from; my point was to tell Satch that it can be difficult when you're longing for spring and it's more than fashionably late.

I was just joking really Met. But it is true, I never have seen green that early. I know it happens else where, just not here nor northern michigan.

That's nice, Nephler. Again, my point is is that the lack of spring can really get to people in the part of Alaska that Satch is in. I'm not sure that Northern Michigan is any real comparison, either. My comments were based on where Satch has lived in the past.

I think you;ll do okay, Satch, but be prepared for some doldrums in March/April/early May.

Matlakatla, on the up side-March is usually the spring sun month One March not too long ago we had 26 sunny days, haha

Of course it was pretty nasty being out in it, due to the winds.....but it was sunny!

Tbh, winter has never bothered me. I'm an Internet and computer gaming junkie. Plus, I've also bought the NHL Center Ice package so that I can watch hockey(go Penguins!) all the way through June.

And yeah Marty, the neighbors have warned me about the wind. We moved all of our furniture and BBQ grill off of our second story deck yesterday in preparation.

These were taken yesterday from my back deck. As you can see, Hatcher Pass is pretty much directly north of my house and panning slightly to the east, I can see that the wind is going to be channeled into our area. I've been told that my location is particularly susceptible to high winds and one neighbor actually put a weather station on his roof to document it.

Late March, April are break-up. Very sloppy. Basically, summer (5 weeks), fall (4 weeks), Winter (6 months), breakup (forever - or it seems that way).
