I'm really thinking about moving up there, I have a couple of operations coming up here shortly and after I recover I'm downsize my 4 bedroom home and get my affairs and dollars in order to move hopefully this year! I love the snow..... fishing, camping and viewing the wild life........

I am disabled. Have lived in Alaska and comparitive to the lower 48..it is so much better in Alaska. The doctors are super compared to where I live now..they say all we get here in Oregon is everyone elses rejects for doctors. They seem to prove it regularly.
You will love Alaska.

Glad to help. My husband is having another flare up.. Going to possible set us back He was diagnosed with Epilepsy last year.Just got out of the Navy in November. He is having a difficult time adjusting to civilian life. I told him that he didn't have to work just collect his check, and maybe get on disability. He's going to be 27 in a month very difficult. Is it this difficult for most vetrens to adjust?? I have been with him since before he went in, and I have never seen him this down. I don't mind him being a stay at home dad when we have kids, but he just feels like he isn't qualified for anything. Hopefully the docs put him on new meds and the seizures will stop again. Also compared to the East Coast I didn't think the price in houses was any different.. Rent was cheaper thats for sure.

[To: CL99 I was an epileptic for 16 years taking phenobarbitol..at age 16 I was proclaimed miraculously cured and haven't had a seizure since and am now 53 so please tell your husband to hang in there..miracles do happen. I know I beleive in them.
I have helped people with trouble adjusting to civilian life. The best you can do is let them know you love them and are their for them no matter what. It is a very hard adjustment for many. When they need space..give them room.
Good Luck and hang in there. Time usually heals all wounds. If it becomes to much because the family also can become traumatized..Message me and I will help anyway I can.[/
