HEY ALL! im planning to go into UAA or UAF. currently im in NJ and my GPA and SAT scores are fine..well, little higher than the average, i guess.

my point is- which college would be better for me to go? im thinking major in culinary art. i know both colleges have the major but have no idea which one has the better programs for my major. [i heard UAF is little bit better than UAA tho]

since Alaska will be a whole different life experience for me, i think i should go to UAA because of the surroundings(i have zero experience in rural areas)- but as i think about the quality of the college, Fairbanks could be better.

.....regardless of the cold and snow, i heard alaska is a nice place to live. and if i do go to either college, i will stay in AK and start my business, hopefully.

and you guys can suggest me different state choices- if my major is not going well with AK.

so,... i need little help here.

anyone kind enough to answer my questions please ????

I dont which curriculum is superior . Anchorage is a suburb of Seattle according to Fairbanks folks-- go all the way and go UAF-- my girlfriend went there and its a tough school.

Ever notice 99% of CityDatas posts are subtle fears of the unknown origon? I have -- 2 ways to handle fear; cower and quit or dive in and conquer.

The dang campus at UAF is so handy -- right on the corner of college and University. Dont have to walk thru miles of BS parking lots from the street.

a shame the dogHouse isnt there anymore. Cant go wrong going to UAF.

I'm a chef. I never went to school for it; my degree is in botany.

It's turning into a very competitive field. My advice is to go to the best Cordon Bleu School that you possibly can and then take it from there.

uaf is great I am/was a student there. Fairbanks is not rural, has everything you need. I would shop at FredMeyer, Walmart, chilis, mcdonlads, and thats about all one needs.

Uaf is special because of the amount of research that happens there, the world’s best students go there for research.

uaa is like any other big city's public college, commuters and non-traditional... Uaf and the military are what keep fairbanks going, and UAF is technically the University of Alaska (flagship)

I hated fairbanks. Cold, dry, dark and depressing.
