Can you get a mil hop for your dog? Are you sending items home due to deployment? You might be able to get them to fly it to Hope AFB

I had a dog shipped on Continental a year or so ago from Minnesota to Shishmaref, Alaska, but had to connect in Anchorage on Alaska Airlines and had no problems. The dog got here in a day and a half and the airlines watered and fed the dog. This was in March so there should not ba any problems to ship the dog the other way around.

Maybe Palin can apply to be the new Presidential Pooch since she arrogantly proclaims herself to be a "pit bull with lipstick"

How did that work out? Did you have to wait for a later flight?

haha it was hell! first off, when you switch airlines half-way through a trip you have to get your dog from baggage claim from the first airline, go up to the ticket counter for the other airline, and recheck your dog and the kennel (i did this in chicago by myself). i finally made it to the american airlines ticket counter where they told me the kennel wouldnt fit on the flight to charlotte, so they re-routed me through dallas (added 6+ hrs onto the trip). next day i spend 5 hrs on the phone with american rescheduling a return flight large enough for the kennel.... anyways i get to the american ticket counter at the charlotte airport to come home and the rep tells me that the kennel wont fit on the flight that they have me booked on (its the exact same flight a flew in on from dallas- tell me how that makes sense?) after cross words and him realizing im a redhead that doesn't take kindly to BS he transfers my reservation to United airlines for a larger flight straight to chicago- and then from there to anchorage and fairbanks via alaska airlines.

wait this is the best part- they think that giving me a $150 voucher thats only good for booking a flight through them is a more than generous offer of truce for their idiocy. gotta love the airlines!

You know you would've been better off to fly Alaska stright to Atlanta,GA,rent a freaking car and drove to Charlotte and it probably would've taken you the same amount of time and lot less headache thats for sure.
