You did so well, you brought tears to my eyes when you talked about your kids stepping up to the plate to help...You rock girl Things can turn to crap in a heartbeat just about anywhere, but at the top of a mountain in the winter...easier to plan on it...and if you keep your bag in the car, don't keep the water in it, it will be frozen and might not be able to thaw it out fast enough when you want it Check your antifreeze level too if you were having problems with the temp ( other than the outside temp and wind)....Hope you have a good rest of the weekend, and how is the new member of the family doing???

I feel so proud of my boys. I mean they are 2 teenage boys that really haven't ever had to do much before we moved here. I mean they semi kept their rooms cleaned and they had to do good in school but really no chores. This year they have grew so much and it was shocking because I didn't think they had it in them. And they reacted like men last night. They thought out their actions before they did them and we talked out every step. I just am so proud not alot of 17 and 15yr old kids would've done what they did.
The new member is doing great he is a 90lb 1yr old full blooded Malmute. He has spent the day running around check out the other dogs. Tomorrow he is going to get to go out for a ski trip. My oldest still owes a good chunk of change on his sled so no real mushing until thats paid for.

check with your local fire station about getting a personal locator beam to have with you when driving in those conditions.
the bright cloth on the antenae idea from the dot guy is only practical if your car doesn't get completely drifted over.
Just a thought, anyway.

What an experience you had and you are right about that carmex; buy lots and keep it on you at all times. Vaseline is a good softener too. I'm glad everything worked out and that you got home safe. I can imagine what your friends and relatives down here must be thinking because I'm thinking a lot of it myself. Good luck to you in the coming months! I look forward to hearing about your adventure.
