Ok I need help. I'm dying here. I can't get the moisture into the air. I have a pot of water on the stove. I can't seem to find a humidifier that doesn't use a ton of watts and since I'm off the grid I really don't want to use one. Can anyone give me some tips on other ways to get moisture in the air. I'm at about 20-22% humidity and we are feeling the effects of it for sure.

You have to stop, not just slow down.
Oddly enough, there is nothing that actually requires that you get out of the way ("get over the farthest you can") before you stop! That can lead to some significant problems, such as an emergency vehicle approaching a busy intersection causing everyone to just stop exactly where they are... and as a result blocking access into the intersection for the emergency vehicle. (I've seen ambulances, with lights flashing, then stear over the center median in order to get through an intersection.)
Teaching emergency vehicle drivers how to adjust for the effects of their actions is not easy; one result is that many departments assign some rather stiff rules that are not necessarily the best in all circumstances, but do relieve the drivers of having to think! :-)

Yes, it's really dry in the winter. Especially when it's cold. You might want a smaller pot of water on the stove that allows the water to turn to vapor easier. you will need to refill it more often. Or a flat cake pan might have more contact with the stove.
What's going on is that your wood stove and other open flame appliances are pulling outdoor air into the house as they use up the oxygen in the house and shoot the air up the stove pipe....that outside air is very dry. Sometimes it will help to provide direct combustion air to the woodstove from outside so that it isn't drawing it from your house. That will help keep some of the humidity in.
Also, drink a lot more water than you normally do.

I totally get the water drinking. I don't like water but yesterday I craved it and couldn't get enough. That was my signal that I needed to do something. I have a big pot so I will switch to a smaller one for sure. I am going to cook veggie soup today on the stove so maybe it sitting there all day with the small pot will help.
I will talk to the hubby about the air pipe thing. My nose feels like it is full of sand or sheetrock dust.

That was going to be my answer too Floyd, but I re-read and he said "stopped" emergency vehicles, not moving - maybe like State Patrol with someone already pulled over...

The soup cooking and the flatter pan with both help!!! Maybe try a slice of lemon in the water to flavor it a little? If you thirsty, is likely a sign that you are already dehydrated. Some saline nose drops may help with the sinus dryness too

That's the idea! Don't just boil water, make soup! Tomorrow you can make beef stock (that's at least 10 hours of boiling). I make a lot of stock and soups in the winter. What I don't use right away, I put into freezer bags and put outside to freeze. I only put in two cups of stock per quart freezer bag so they will lay, and ultimately freeze, flat. That way I can stack them in my freezer easier and pull out just what I need.
