I think the Outback is on "C" street near Tudor Road. I've been in there a few times but it seemed expensive for the quality of food to me.
There is a security place on the New Seward/Gambell Highway near Northern Lights intersection that always has a sign out front they are hiring with a sign up bonus of some sort. I don't recall the name of the place just seeing the sign every time I drive through town.

Rance, maybe the next time you drive by you can try to remember the name and let me know??? My hubby's job pays pretty well, so he'd have to get a job that probably pays more since the cost of living is higher there. Also, Outback here has a pretty high standard, so that's weird that it's not the same there. Maybe they just need me to come in a change everything...hehe. Thanks for the info

So you are saying to rent not buy? I have 4 kids and 2 dogs and renting is almost impossible. Plus, after having our own house for 5 years, it might be kinda hard to go back to renting. And, to throw away all that $$. This is why we should ask questions before we do something major. Research never hurt anyone and as long as there are nice people who are willing to answer questions, then I will keep asking. Thanks

Rance,
Where is it in relation to the BP building and the Fred Meyer (New Seward & Benson)? I'll have a look when I go in to the office tommorrow.

I was wondering...are there any rules/law about dogs? I have a Australian Sheppard Mix and a Jack Russel and would never think of leaving them behind. Here, you are "supposed" to pay $10 to the city to register them, but they are not strict about it. They are up to dates on shots and both neutered.

The Outback is on A St after the split, but near 36th, I think.
I only went there one time, about 3 years ago. It's on the west side of the street, but south of the Walmart.

By the way, driving through the Canadian border, you will need all shots and such up to date for the dogs. The ferry can be hard on the fur brothers and sisters, because you can only leave them in the car on the vehicle deck and see them at certain times of the day.

I didn't even think about the ferry ride. How long is that?

I'm not sure, but I think it's about 3 days from Bellingham WA to Juneau and another 3-4 days from Juneau to Whittier, but you might check the Alaska Marine Highway web site. Pricey though.
