Default Anyone here live in Fairbanks?

Hi,

Although I swore I'd rent for the first bit, I have found a place that seems perfect for me. BUT...sight unseen scares me.

Is there anyone here who is familar with the Steele Creek Road area?

I would so appreciate this!

Thank you so much

Smile Renting

Magoon ....

Please let me know how that works out for you ~ " the sight unseen " ...

We are relocating up to the Kenai Pen and I have found a couple different places that I would be willing to buy " sight unseen " also...

But everyone here tells me not to do it ... That we should just wait till we get there and look around for ourselves...

Thanks....

Liz

I would not buy a house anywhere without first seeing it.

Well, I have lots of pictures, and would hire someone to inspect it. If I could find someone who had any knowledge of the area, and it was to my liking, I would most likely end up flying up to see it. But, to go further at this stage without any input would be futile.

I did write the first mesage early this morning (right before my kids came in ), plus I am not a great communicator in a forum-setting (I'm more verbal)...

Thanks for the advice...I'm just hoping for some impressions of that particular area before I get all hot and heavy with Alaskan Air.

So...if anyone is remotely familiar with this area, I would appreciate any and all input!

Here's agreat example of why you want to look before you buy. As far as I know the old gas tanks are still buried there and still need to be removed. This old store has a lot of great history but make sure you know what you're getting into.

I use imageshack.us/ for photo hosting. I save pictures there at a re-sized image of 640x480 for message boards. Then just copy and paste the hotlink into my message box (that you type in). Very simple. You may have used the little box on top that inserts an image. I've never used it so I'm not sure what happens or why you have that attachement.
Is that a place from the steele creek raod area near Fairbanks? Matter of fact...I'm gonna try it...today in Kuparuk, Alaska...

Don't look the same. You got me stumped!

Thanks for the answer. I'll try it that way next time. It's the old Clearwater grocery store near Delta Junction.

I am so glad I found this forum!

Ok, here is where I am with this now. First an inspector, then, if the report is ok, a trip up to look at everything before I make any decisions.

It is just that I got all excited when I found 2 cabins with an inside shower on the same property...

We are a family that truly likes each other's company...but maybe not *quite* enough to live in the same cabin for the rest of our lives.

I just kinda wanted to know the lay of the land (like were they in the middle of a heavy industry area or trapped in the middle of a comercial development) before I hauled in the building inspector and got my hopes any higher than they already are.

Rance...you take a mighty fine picture...got that devilish look in your eyes

Thanks everyone,

Deb

Thanks Deb ~

and all .....

I would definatly do the same ... have someone check it out for me first and have lots of detailed pix...

I guess I assumed; and on that assumption was right that you would do the same .... ( normally I never just assume ) *smile*

And what I meant was in doing all of those did it work out ok for you ...

Thank You for the advice everyone.... I really do appreciate it alot.

Liz
