Questions...

1. Is the wet weather of Sitka going to ruin my old Willys? Will I need to rent a storage garage with dehumidifier or might a portable garage keep enough of the weather off?

2. Same question but for my camper. Am I fooling myself bring the camper and Jeep? We would use the camper for kind of a base on day trips, and for lengthier future trips into Alaska mainland, and the Jeep for puttering around town and parades and such.

Both places have salt water air since they are Coastal, but if you like the jeep, it will be at home in either place. A garage will be just fine for it unless you plan on driving on the beach, which Sitka doesn't have, they are all rocks (bolders), but the Homer area has miles of beaches that are sandy.

The camper may be good to base out of, but in Sitka, you will have a harder time finding a place to live in general, a lot harder than in Homer. In Sitka they don't really have a lot of Campers come there or places for them to park, but Homer is tied into the road system and you have all sorts of support for RV type lifestyle.

Houses costs almost four times for the same thing in Sitka than in Homer, although there is some really nice places to be had in both towns.

A lot more rain in Sitka than Homer, but it is more like the differance between being "Pushed" off a tall building and "Jumping"... Lots of wet...

Both are good places to live though.

Two additional things to know. It is difficult or impossible to bring guns through Canada and you'll need a current pet health certificate when crossing into Alaska. If neither of these affect you, then no problems.

Thanks starlight, I've been looking harder at Homer and liking what I see.

Thanks akck, I won't be bringing guns or pets.
