Phoning while driving thru Canada
What is the cheapest method to call Lower 48 while driving through Canada? I have Verizon cell, but think there's a high roaming charge. Are pre-paid phone cards and using a landline the cheapest?

I used onstar last time I was in Canada. That only works if you are in a GM vehicle that has onstar.

I use a prepaid AT&T phone card that I bought at Sam's Club. The last time I used my cell phone it ended up costing about 78 cents per minute. At that was even after I paid extra for the "overseas plan". I found plenty of pay phones on my travels through Canada to Alaska. My AT&T phone would have worked on most of the Canadian cell phone systems. Lot's of areas with zero coverage.

I've noticed over the years that every payphone in Canada have credit card slots on them and prepaid phone card slots as well. Go with Stiffler's idea and get a card. AT&T does work, but it's spendy. I'm sure every other cell phone works as well.

Had it not been for Skype...I'd never had made that first phone call to Sweden!
I can talk for 7 hours, for 10 bucks, half way around the planet!
