Yeah, it was started by the "Chuck" brothers back in the days of the Gold Rush, just as the Prohibition was getting started.

They began importing the hooch from Canada over the Chilkoot Pass while everyone was going over the other side to get rich gold mining. The Chuck brothers were bringing it back to Alaska on the backs of those that were calling it quits as miners from Whitehorse.

They expanded out into Igloo molds (early prefab kits), static control sheets (for making the Aurora move when you flap them at it), they were really popular for the all feet drive snowshoes which became a really big seller to those that had no concept of how to use the older style that would spin out and cause you to fall into a side slip into deep snow which could cause some major issues if nobody was there to help you up....

They got the nickname "Knumbchucks" from the amount of times they almost froze to death on the pass.... Anyway, they sold out to Carr's who then sold to Safeway a few years back, which is now the Store you are referring to... with a different name...
