I'm not sure where you all get off. Yeah, I'm not a great fan of California, I've been there for work enough to know I wouldn't want to live there, and yes they are a little over the edge on just about everything.

But I know some excellent people who choose to live there. I know there are jerks and A-holes there, like everywhere else.

But to imply what you do - just because they live there.

I can honestly say pretty much the same about anyone who CHOOSES to live in/near/around Anchorage - includes Wasilla and the valleys. I know I have very little experience in that area - I've seen very little except the scenery - it's nice but it ain't GREAT.

Someone tell me Why those areas are so great. Please.

Brian

Difference being is that he came the AK forum and made his little comments. Don't seen Alaskans going to the Calif forum and making rude remarks

and I was born and raised in Calif my whole life and still have my family there and I CAN and WILL say what I want. My family there will say the same thing... they just can't move out of there yet.

Welcome, and it will crawl, and then it will go so fast it will make your head spin...the wonders of a move like this!!! It took me over a year to get over it and finally am at peace with it, even liking the snow and cold for the first time in my life..Christmas was hard with family down there, but it all went well, everyone survived...

There are good places and bad places to live, what is good for one, not for another, we all have to decide what works for us, and is trial and error and a learning experience...never too old to learn...

I realize that she was from elsewhere, and the info was dead wrong - gee - is there a difference between meth and oxycontin? lol.

When I hear "anyone ... in one ear out the other" - closed mind? Maybe there's 1% gold in there - you'll never know. I am not from California - I don't have the background to possibly understand and comprehend. But my experiences with INDIVIDUALS is telling. Is it because I've worked with professional people - who are generally a bit brighter than many? Is it because these people have the financial means to live like they want in Cali, not putting up with some of the BS and going out of state when they want? At least some good people do want to live in Cali - could you imagine the real mess if all the good ones left. It seems to me that a lot of the good ones stay and the others leave.

Granny - if I ever make it out to the Kenai Peninsula - I will have to touch base and have lunch or dinner, or if you want to check out Barrow.... I expect to be here for quite a while.

Brian

Regarding media literacy - there are very few news sources that can really stand up to a critical eye.
Anyone have difficulty with this line from the ADN story on the Bear Attack Documentary yesterday:

"And some average citizens -- taken in by the show's appearance of having been filmed in the wild --"

House, car, lifestyle, things -> Million+ $, Living life as you want -> priceless.
