Default Wasilla - Quality of Life and the Lowdown

I have a few questions about Wasilla.

1. What is the average snowfall? Is there several feet of snow on the ground year round, or just a few inches throughout the winter?

2. What does a 2,500 sq. foot home cost?

3. Are office jobs plentiful?

4. Are the residents accepting of outsiders moving to the community? By outsiders, I mean a family from the lower 48 with no clue how to live in the Alaskan climate and culture.

There is snow from around November - April or there abouts.
There are some office jobs in Wasilla are, but most are in Anchorage.
A home of that size will cost around $1400 a month renting, give or take.
I would guess that most people in this area are from the lower 48, just a guess.

Here are a couple photos taken today at our home, it shows the snow.

Path to our shed.

Path around back of our home.

Wow... how gorgeous. Is this a typical snowfall? I think we would love living in Wasilla. I learned so much during the election. Seems like a very nice place to live.

We just got here this past September, so I really can't say if this is normal or not. I do know that last year they didn't get hardly any.

To be honest, I wouldn't go by what you saw during the elections as to how Wasilla, or Alaska it self is like.

Why not go by what I saw during the elections? Is Wasilla better/worse than what was presented? What I saw was a nice small town with hard working Americans who love God and country.

Yes, it's a nice area. I just mean to do a bit more research. There isn't really a "down town", it's more of a strip along a highway. Very busy with traffic due to most people having to work in Anchorage, and that can take over an hour to get there. We live about 3 miles out of town and can still hear the traffic.

We moved here mainly to "get our foot in the door" so to speak. Now that we are here, meaning AK, we can shop around for the area we really want. For me, and I am speaking only for myself, Wasilla is not the town I'm looking for. I'm looking for a much smaller town with a town feel to it.

If you are going from what you seen on tv, I don't think you will last here that long. You might want to think about it.

Nephler planned this move out long before moron was picked for VP, he did his research right and asked the right questions. He did a good job moving here. Follow his words of wisdom!
