For sure the peninsula is a beautiful area!!! We just got at least 20" of snow the past week, is -20 right now, and is absolutely gorgeous, the spruce trees are all drooping with all the snow and everything has a coating of white....When I drove into our road yesterday it was breathtaking and postcard perfect, we just stopped for a bit and took it all in

Ummm...you'd have to live here to understand!

To the new poster...welcome to CD! I know a Mac McCloud. If it's Butch's brother. I used to sheep hunt with him and my Dad.

Thanx Rance for fielding that one for me, having briefly been a "roader" myself back in the day

Holy Cow!!!!

Northroader <-----that's me!!!...well almost

Oh man was I born to live in Ak. I have always made a point to stop at times to smell the flowers, in another thread someone is blowing soap bubbles to watch what they do in -30 temps...what better example of the magic that Ak holds over people than that!!! And on this board he is among people that understand that magic.

Here in the lower states (at least for me) I blindly go through each day like a sheep in a herd. But each and every day that I have spent in Ak, I have felt the feeling of being alive every second of it. Maybe it comes from knowing you are in a place where complacency and a lack of planning for emergencies and being prepared for them can mean death, I dunno. I just know I have let 45 years of my life slide by with hardly a notice and it's time to feel life with each breath. I will wear the title 'North Roader' happily.

regards,
TB

And I can choose to live in a shanty house if I choose, without interference? Tell me that aint freedom.
