Nuthin like homemade sauce... ketchup, mustard, honey, hot sauce, vinegar, and a spice rack... the possibilities are endless
I love animals, they're delicious w/a good sauce

Okay...serious now...Alaska rescue..not sure what is here, as I have not looked, I have three dog kids now...but a lot of people come and go, and am sure if going that some pets and other animals get left behind...
A lot of people fish, hunt, so meat processing is not an issue...store bought, yes, processing can be an issue...Processed foods, I don't use so much as do most of my cooking from scratch and bake my bread when feasible...
Can't speak for all, but I like my veggies. They are more here for the most part, but I just bought a poop-load of broccoli and cauliflower to freeze at 0.88/lb. I can't grow it for that...you shop when on sale and freeze, can, accordingly...I hope to have a garden and greenhouse this spring to cut down on some of the expense of veggies...grow lettuces, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, etc., and have lots of salad and grilled fish, whatever....fruit is spendy unless on sale, but can do strawberries here, and lots of wild berries to be picked to do whatever with...
Alaskans eat meat and veggies, not veggies alone for the most part, I believe...

As far as veggie restaurants go there may be a few in Anchorage & I know that you can get meat free dishes at some of the Chinese & Thai restaurants in the valley. I'd think if you were going to open up a vegetarian restaurant that Anchorage or Juneau would be your best bets.

I've found that fruit and veggies sold here to be much better quality than back in MI. Also, about the same price.
Meats seem to be much cheaper also.

It seems more & more these days that there is no real difference in the prices paid in the lower 48 versus Alaska for food.

Not so sure about that unless food has gone up down there...Going back to August 2007, unless on sale up here with a 'come to get me" ad, I don't find anything less than MN, except for seafood of course...

There is a place for all of God's creatures. Right next to the taters and gravy!

There are formal and informal animal rescue groups of all types here. Some are better than others. I am active in horse rescue myself. What do you want to know about rescue functions here?
