i guess it all depends on how sensitive you are to allergens, but my wife had a rough time around healy. not exactly sure what it was, but it was bad from april-june.

we live in montana now, and she gets hit pretty hard every spring, with the cottonwoods, dogwoods, and various others, wind or no wind. i feel for her . i can never have a good time when she suffers.

but on a side note, she has seen a dramatic decrease in allergies since she started doing acupuncture therapy. still allergic to stock animals and cats, which is what we are working on now! there is hope!

UpNorth is on a distinguished road
Hi There - I lived in Humboldt Co. for 20 years and then a couple years in Sacramento... My allergies were never medically diagnosed in CA, but they were awful! I'm pretty sure my allergies were related to pollen and such.

I've now lived in Anchorage, AK for 8+ years and have NEVER had a runny nose, watery eyes, or congestion related to allergies.

Sometimes it could take quite a few years to find out if you are allergic to fireweed, or birch, willow, cottonwood, etc. Some years it's not bad at all, while some other time you can be at a campsite somewhere (hunting, fishing, etc.) and all of the sudden you get hay fever.

But keep in mind that household moulds are not as prevalent in Alaska, specially in the interior where the air is dry, compared to the lower-48. Yes, moulds can be anywhere, but moisture must be present.
