Juneau has the Mendenhall Glacier. When I went there it was rainy & cold so we went whale watching.
In Ketchikan we took a floatplane out to the Misty Fjords National Monument. That was a lot of fun too. Skagway... Well we took a boat to Haines & toured the Chilcat Bald Eagle Preserve.

Um, I don't know about Skagway and Juneau but Ketchikan has a water gauge that's a few feet tall.

The cruise ship will have a plan for you to take all the city tours to keep you busy. You won't have a lot of time to explore the place yourself.

Had you gone on the Alaska State Ferry, you would be able to stay in each town a few days and seen a lot of neat stuff that you won't have time for on a charter cruise. Not to mention that most of the passengers on the Alaska State Ferry's are from Alaska and can tell you about stuff the tours don't know about while you sit there watching the scenery roll by.

First thing you don't do is allow the Cruise Ship sales people run your life....which they wanna do because they own most of the shore-side attractions and the ones they don't they control by ripping off the owners....they do their best to keep you from spending your money or taking shore side trips that they are not associated with

This is by far the best tour offered in Ketchikan....

Default Definitely a matter of Opinion.

"This is by far the best tour offered in Ketchikan....

Bering Sea Crab Fisherman's Tour..."

It is one of several good excursions in Ketchikan. To state that it is "by far the best" is definitely arguable. OP should pick an excursion that would fit her own interests....there are MANY choices.

Hey do they actually catch crab and have a dinner with the tour guests afterward? Or is it just sitting and watching some guys bait and dump a pot, then pulling a pot?
