Smile No...Gi Joes look like me!

[muscle flex]I am an ex...GI[/muscle flex]. Recon actually, along with combat medic, forward observer for 4.2 inch mortar platoon (my fav), mountain and glacier training, skiing, expert grenade thrower, and many weeks of Arctic training with the Native Scouts. But rapelling off a huey skid and crawling around picking targets was the best. All alone in the woods, trying not to be detected, relying only on myself and my training...was just like being at home. Stuff I'd been doing for years already, and still do.

When you get to their splash page, click on "search" and hit enter. Then type in the name of the city you are interested in. If there are any video clips of that area, the search will find them. This will work for any state or place, not just Alaska, and the clips are mostly amateurish...but will give you some idea. Yes, there is some garbage on that site, but there is good stuff too. Good luck!

Default wow, nice sunset there tourguy

Wow, nice sunset there tourguy, where was that one taken? The rest are all very nice as well, wish I had that kind of eye for composition.
Here's one I took a couple years ago in Homer. A radical departure from the usual gray overcast for that time of year.

Here's another one from my previous job, wanna guess where? Hint: that hill in the middle is taller than it looks.

Default who was it that said?

A bit smokey there last summer, eh?

Who was it that said "the world will end in fire or ice", was it a Robert Frost poem?

Sounds like the year-round description of Fairbanks, doesn't it?

Yeah I hope we get a break this year down my way as well. Although it does make for nice moose fodder and morel mushrooms! I'm sure we'll get hammered with some lightning tho eventually and get a blaze going. Last summer we had days with 5 to 6 hundred or more strikes state wide everyday.
