There are many. Most are on the aleutian chain...but there are 4 in southcentral which are close enough to Anchorage and all the Kenai Peninsula towns to cause damage or otherwise make for a bad day. I kind of like living on the edge.

On a brighter note Rance, the added heat may keep the gas flowing to the heater. I was just reading the adn article & was wondering what would happen if Redoubt acted like a Hawaiian volcano & poured lava down into Cook Inlet & sealed it off...

It would make one heck of a large lake upstream...and divert the incoming tide right up the Kasiloff and Kenai Rivers!
To stand and watch a volcano erupt is amazing. I was working on the Shell "A" platform in Cook Inlet the last time Redoubt went off. I had my VHS video camera with me and got some great footage.

Wow...great shot Rance!

I also remember the last time Redoubt blew. I hadn't heard about it on the news but just saw a brown cloud covering half the sky with a sharply delineated edge. I knew it had to be a volcano and started covering everything up.

I went by the home depot an picked up a couple boxes of masks yesterday. I also picked up a couple spare air filters for my truck. I figured once the word started getting out there won't be a single air filter or face mask left in the state by the weekend.
