Very cool!

You can also just make it out on the GOES visible loop:

Just got this in a company wide email bulletin:

Quote:

An ash fall advisory has been issued for the Susitna Valley. Ash fall has been reported at Skwentna ranging from 1/8-1/4th inch. Talkeetna Airport and Chulitna have reported light ash fall. Chulitna is the only DOT road system camp reporting ash fall from Parks Milepost 104 north. There is no report of ash fall from DOT in Cantwell as of this time.

The Alaska Railroad is operating as normal throughout the ash fall area. Neither the Alaska Volcano Observatory nor the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration are reporting ash fall in Anchorage at this time.

AVO is talking weeks or months of activity. It's gonna blow chunks if it does this all summer. Oh... wait.... isn't already blowin' chunks?

You can see a different sky in some of the cams across the state.

Weather Camera Site List page - Federal Aviation Administration

If you look at McGrath, you can see a haze up high.

We not only woke up to this, but as was checking the computer we lost power for a couple hours. Radio said transmission line between Anchorage and the peninsula went down.
