That's a neat website. Has there been any news of the oil storage tanks?

I haven't seen anything lately, but they have had flood warnings out for that area the last few days, and until the mud can be cleaned out as their runway or helicopter pad was covered, I think the only means of checking it is a fly by at this point. Okay, if can't land, how do they get back in when time, or equipment in to clean up?? barge??

What a mess. This could turn into a real horror story. I noticed yesterday that APRN was finally reporting on the situation.

I do believe you're right. When I have looked at anything on this, the comments get downright nasty, but are valid in asking why they would put an oil facility in that location. When Redoubt started waking up, the oil company didn't want to even comment on how much was stored there due to national security. I did see something yesterday saying to the effect that hopefully they can get a barge that's coming from somewhere, into the facility and docked safely to off-load some of the oil.

There were traces of ash in Anchorage. You could not see it fall because it was snowing, but if you held a piece of paper outside and caught a few snowflakes when they melted it left a ring of gritty grey ash around the wet spot.

At approximately 17:35 AKDT (01:35 UTC) another explosive eruption occurred at Redoubt volcano. National Weather Service reports an ash cloud height of 40,000 feet above sea level.
