I have lived in Juneau for 32 years, there are no 4-wheel trails, snowmachine trail... make your own or go to Henery's restruant and ask Robby, there are acouple of home schoolers. It's expensive here, if you have a profession and need a license to practice here there prices for licenses are high, Juneau's main income is tourism during the summer and the population will sometime triple during that season, it is one of the most beautiful places to live, hiking, biking, and camping, but it's all seasonal you have about a 4 month window to do that in. It's beautiful to live here but VERY expensive also. The jobs are good depending on what you want. The winter's are the time to hibernate with a hot cup of tea and a book (we broke the most snow fall in one winter at almost 200 inches) while the outside it either -6 degrees or so much snow you don't dare to drive anywhere. But during the summer you don't dare to stay inside or you might miss the sunshine while it's out. But other than that, enjoy! And good luck!

I'm getting overwhelmed planning my relocation to juneau. the ferry (I have a car to take over), getting my junk there (not much, just clothes and books and CDs). Is is better to u-haul it on the ferry or have a moving company take it? I have a relocation budget from my new job, so I have a little to spend...

depending on how much "junk" you might want to fill your vehicle with it and send over on the ferry of course. I would think that a moving company would be very expensive as they too have to pay for the ferry space. Have you thought about boxing it up and sending it over cargo, I heard last night that one of the airlines will fly items such as that fairly reasonable, not sure the name of the airline but worth checking into.
