We're in MN and planning to move to Alaska. I was born in Fairbanks and would like to stay inland. We are trying to find something online before we head up there, so we can hopefully purchase soon after we get there. Anyone know any good sites for finding relatively cheap starter homes or land?

How are jobs for nursing assistants?

Any advice?
please don't tell me insulation, etc. I do live in a place that gets to -40 and even -60 so yeah- I get it lol

I would caution you against buying any property "sight unseen". Especially in Alaska nothing beats boots on the ground. You can line up some interesting properties and then fly up to see them. Or you can even make an offer on a property contingent on your personal inspection. But walk in them, look at the neighbors before you commit. I'm not sure if there is any central place to view Fairbanks listings. You might try realtor.com. Alaskarealestate.com has some Fairbanks listings.
