How is bethel now?
hey everyone, this is our first thread on the site (i say our because its me and my girlfriend) and we've been doing a lot of research on bethel. We would really like to relocate to bethel this july after we graduate, and we've read stories about other people making the move and are pretty inspired. So i guess the reason for the post is how is life in bethel these days? Would it be really difficult to find a job right now due to the economy?(we both only will have high school diplomas) also are appartments very pricy? Any other info or suggestions anyone might have about bethel or our move would be greatly appreciated. - jj and kristen

Hi JJ and Kirsten, I'm here in Bethel. Life is good out here. There are a lot of jobs open here, housing can be a problem though. Prices range from $600-$1500 a month plus you have to pay water and sewer and electricity. I have a bunch of pictures at Bethel Alaska Photo Gallery - Home there and also look at BethelAK.Com - Information about Bethel Alaska including Camaitravel, forums, hotels, hunting for general information. This person here is originally from England, he has a good look on life here. Enjoy!

600-1500 is pretty much around our idea of what we would be paying.... how much is water and sewer a month? wev seen bethelak.com ill have to check out the other ones...we plan on coming with enough money for two months food and rent while we look for work, iv emailed alaska airlines but they told me to apply when we arrive...thank you very much and this is very encouraging news to us

I've never really considered Bethel as the adventure capital but can see how hanging with Warpt would be the draw.
The local health corp, YKHC, is always hiring. You may be able to get jobs there for about 15 bucks per hour.

well the hunting, fishing and snowmachine riding is a huge bonus, but to be honest we hate new york, i cant stand how crowded it is and there really isnt anything to do here........i like the open country a lot better and it just seems to be a lot more suited to our personalities....im at work now but ill try to post more about how we stand on the move later

hey watsup, another sort of odd sounding question: what kind of pants should we bring if moving to bethel, like i said we live in new york and almost only wear jeans but are they out of the question?
