Or really fricken freeze everything in 30 seconds make your eyelashes stick together and your Rockstar slushy on the way to the truck that's barely idling and hasn't been shut off for 8 days because it'll turn into a Chevycicle burnin' diesel that's just 4 degrees above turning into gel despite the fact that it cost $4 a gallon but it's cheaper than freezing to death even if the heater only blows 20 degree air on "High" but you still have to pull over to help out some brainiac hippy Subaru driver with one headlight stuck in a ditch 'cause they swerved to miss a Ptarmigan and they don't have a strap or a shovel so you let them in your rig and they stink like week old cheese and feet but hey it's Alaska and we all do our own thing so no harm I'll just Febreeze the seats after I drop you off in Fox way outta my way cold, like in the Interior?

It felt good to let that one go.
I have like 7 others too. I thought them up today, while spending an hour spraying myself with semi-scalding water trying to thaw out a fill pipe for my water tank in balmy 10 above (I live in the hills) weather.
Everything really is tougher in Alaska.

I don't much care for Mass winters either - they're slushy.
Not like the good crisp snow here in Barrow. Everything stays nice and white - not that brown/black/gray as in Mass. I'd rather be out walking in 20- here than +20 there. It's much nicer, even with the wind blowing. You just dress for it. What it comes down to is for whatever reasons either we enjoy it or it's worth it for some of us.
Not sure exactly what you don't like about the Mass winters.
Right now it's -26 calm winds, KP is around 2, might be a nice aurora out. Good time to take a look and spend some time outdoors.
NorthWord nice!

I'm just about ready to get outside. It only takes a few minutes to put on, flannel lined jeans, nylon pants, sweat shirt, Cahartt jacket, wool socks, baffin boots, (if it's windy add thermal top and bottom)
oh yeah I don't want to forget the cap and gloves, (sometimes I do).
and a cold cup of juice.
Wunderground shows deadhorse not responding - I think Rance may be on the slope - it's nearly a full moon. Is it clear over there?

Not clear. It's snowing this weird stuff that appears out of nowhere. I can see the moon but it's snowing. Like the moisture in the air freezes and falls to the ground. It's weird.
I'm hoping tonight for some good visability. Last night I was busy on the rig most the night. Tonight should be more relaxed.
I have noticed it gets lighter sooner tho! I use to wake up and if it was dark it was time to get up. Now I wake up late and it's still light! Have to start setting the alarm again!

I don't like how cold it gets, the amount of snow we get, or the length that it's cold. But I know Alaska winters are colder, snowier, and longer. Right now it's 47 and this is warm in the winter by Massachusetts standards. I want to live somewhere where a day like this would be normal or below average. I am happy at how much the snow will melt today. I could never live somewhere that has a snowpack all winter.
