Hello all,
This sounds like a great deal! But my question is, would I have to relocate here or could I have the land/home as a second property?
Thanks.

It is acceptable to have it as a second property. You still need to build on it, but once that is done you can rent it out if you want or whatever.

Free land
I read an article in the paper yesterday on the free land give away. Although I feel sure it is too late for me to make arrangements for the deposit, I want to make an effort anyway.
I am a female in Lubbock, Tx and own my own business. I have two college age kids and would be capable of building on a piece of property. If there is a possible online registration, I would appreciate any information you could provide.
Thank you,
Rita Trammel

You may want to read through some of the previous posts so we don't have to keep repeating ourselves.

Free Land
Hello, my name is Teresa Mohr and I am from Ozark, Arkansas. My husband is a truck driver and heard about this offer of free land in Anderson, Alaska, and wanted me to check it out.
First, when I was a little girl my uncle used to work in Alaska and would come back home on the holidays and tell me all about it, and I could see his eyes light up when he would talk about it, I was enchanted from that moment on. My husband has also dreamed of Alaska and its wonders. When we were both in the military we tried so hard to get stationed there, but infortunately there weren't any openings at the time.
We have three daughters 16, 11, and 5 and love to get involved with our community. My husband (Douglas Mohr) is a Class A driver, and I have a degree in Business/Medical Transcription.
I see we missed this opportunity to obtain free land in your town and I hope in the future that we may have a chance to be a part of your community.
Thank You,
Teresa Mohr

Additional Opportunities in Anderson
Theresa,
I am a resident in Anderson and there will be other opportunities here. We do have some houses for sale also that would actually be cheaper to buy than it would be to get the land and clear it and then have to build on it. Please to to the website anderson.govoffice.com and look at the housing list for sale. There will be more to come also as some of the locals get a lot build on and then there houses will be available for purchase. Sounds like you would fit in great with our community and I would encourage you to look into that as an option!

And alot of the oilfield service companies need truck drivers with CDL. Check out http://www.jobs.state.ak.us/ to see if Peak Oilfield Service or ASRC has any listings. Not to mention there is alot of road construction/maintenance in the summer months, and there is always a shortage of truck drivers.

WOW! What I would give! Free land? Is it true? A dream? My uncle said that Anchorage was great to live in. He was in the Army for yrs. He still keeps in touch with friends there today. Well good luck to those who can receive the free land. Wish I could be there.:

Hey Guys and Dolls. I've noticed several of the posting came in from warm areas such as Texas and I think, even one from Florida. I realize the word 'FREE" cause a lot of brain cells whirlling, but, not to throw cold water ( is it ice and snow?) into your thoughts, don't forget, you can freeze your tail off in that area. I am not saying you should not check the place out, but if you cannot stand the cold and long, long, LONG nites, you may be spending a lot of hard earn bucks to get up there just to find U can't stand the cold and/or the loneliness. It is not like the big or even medium size city where you can call your neighbor a mile or three away and ask, how about bridge or poker or MJ tonite? Yes, I think we should all look into it but w/our eyes wide open and not thru rose colored glasses.
