I hear you, Alec, and I agree fully. A few of my worst memories revolved about St. Valentine's Day. I received a lovely card this year, had a fine dinner with the husband the day prior, and that was that. It is too over-rated imo, and I could give a poo about it in general.
....St. Patrick's Day on the other hand St. Andrew's Day is another. If we're going to celebrate saints, by all means...but to venerate a Saint's death by celebrating our heart's desire is a bit macabre.

Hello all! I've missed ya folks! I've been gone for the past week, did anyone notice? Probably not!
Speaking of Valentines Day....I took the wife to Disney World for the week. We got back Sunday night. We had a great time and for Valentines Day we ate lunch at the Germany pavillon at Epcot. Awesome buffet.
Anyway Met, I could never forget Valentine's day...you see...it was my birthday. WHOOOOOO! HOOOOOO!
Because it was my birthday, Disney gave me the option of free admission to one of the parks or a $75 gift card. We already had tickets to the parks so we took the gift card and bought T-shirts.
AND....quit showing that food darn you'uns...Now that we're back from our vacation I'm supposed to be on a diet and you guys are making me hungry.

German buffet???sounds good....Happy belated birthday bro!!! You get to celebrate regardless, though I do believe the V-day is getting over-rated like everything else

Thank you and no offense taken. I and the wife agree with you. My wife says that cards go in the garbage, flowers die and the candy makes her fat. We don't buy into the commercialism stuff. We may go to dinner the day before or after, but that's it. I LOOOOOVE MY WIFE! I got a good'en!
