I'm more of a centrist Republican, and I was against the war in Iraq from day 1. I hated Saddam, but was worried about partisan civil war. We saw this in VietNam, between the Catholics and Buddhists. It is a 3-way free-for-all now between Sunni, Shiite and Kurd groups. But I am afraid it is the tale of the tar baby. We're stuck. It is a moot point at this stage. Blame is a name game. Whodunnit is past. I know and you know. I have never stated the war was a good idea. I never said Bush was intelligent. But that is the past, get over it and move on. Stand together and help find the solution.

I am not a major fan of Obama either. I am afraid of the debt being incurred by this administration in the name of my children. I am also afraid of some recent shortages of ammunition in the most common calibers of weapons held by average citizens. Not a happy thought there. I haven't seen shortages in this area, ever. We are not a rabble in arms here. Just plain Americans. And we are ALL Americans. Left, right and middle.

I miss the average give and take in political discussions. I have liberal friends who tell me that I am misinformed and misled. I have conservative friends who tell me I have been blinded by rhetoric and have lost faith. And standing in the middle means that I have very few people who understand my doubts and fears. Because I share some with both sides.

Just the way I feel and of course my opinions are my own.

Hey, I'm right there in the middle with ya. Personally, I think us middle-of-the-roaders have the most rational and realistic point-of-view. But I guess everyone feels that way about their own position.

And that statement cuts right to the core of our current problem. There is NOTHING NEW about the Democrats. History has proven time and again that they are capable of just as much, if not more, corruption and incompetance as the Repubs. All this last election did was to precisely demonstrate that there are no truly NEW ideas in our bankrupt political system, just a rehash of the same tired story from the prior cycle. It's like a broken record stuck on an 8 or 12 year track. The only thing that makes it "new" is that the long term memory of the American public only spans as long as an average season run of American Idol.

Ask your average voter and they will probably tell you that only two political parties are somehow allowed by the constitution. And time after time the media does their part to marginalize any truly new ideas as fringe movements dominated by crackpots and/or "militia men". Until we get some truly independent political ideologies, not beholden to the current Globalist power structure, this country will remain lost. Unfortunately though I fear that the grip of the status quo may be too strong to break without some sort major, unpleasant social upheaval.

And that is why some of us choose to stock up on Guns and Ammo.

Feds undercut civilian supply of ammunition
It wasn't a secret that Obama opposed civilian assault rifles...that is part of the reason many people voted for him. I'm sorry, but there is no need to have an automatic assault rifle to go hunting or for self-defense. (in my opinion). I own a pistol and believe 100% in lethal self-defense, but still there is no need for assault rifles.

That’s all I have to say.
The Russians are mocking us for the button thing and sending military equipment to be placed in countries unfriendly to us, Putin said we shouldn't try socialism since it failed in Russia, the British felt a bit insulted by the DVD thing and more, Chavez just called Obama an ignoramus, Iran's leader mocked Obama's statements on changing relations with them, the French and German leaders have opposed the bailouts, China has gotten upset about the comments on their currency policies and their Navy has attacked/hrassed American ships recently...I'm not sure about that "respect" increasing to be honest...

The guns he wants banned are not "automatic assault rifles" but common semi-automatic firearms like the M1 Garand, etc., and any shotgun that holds more than 5 rounds. Considering the response (literally a run on guns and ammunition that's still not over, democrats all over the country saying they oppose it...) I'd say those who want such a ban are in the minority in this country...under the Second Amendment the government has no authority to tell people what guns they can and can't have. Particularly when based on such silly criteria.

They intended for the people to be as well armed as the military, in order to more effectively resist or deter tyranny. Hence, the common weapons of the soldier today: M16, hand grenades, etc., should be freely available to civilians.

The second amendment issue can be debated into the ground. And it has been. Quite frankly, common sense should rule each and every gun and ammo purchase.

Hand grenades & heavier artillery can be obtained if you have deep pockets & the patience of a saint.
