My social group seems to consist of angry goofballs wherever I live, so I usually run into skinheads if they're in an area. There are a few in southcentral, and almost certainly a few in Fairbanks (though I haven't personally run into them yet). I've never seen the token fashion statement here, but I have seen a few tattoos. For the most part, they consist of two classes: degenerate, lazy alcoholics/meth addicts passing the blame. And borderline cases where they just about fit in with the standard surly, libertarian, un-PC Alaskans. The ones I've talked to here come across more like young, angry tea partiers in bomber jackets than anything. The type that worries people: intelligent, organized, and violent (American History X), doesn't exist here as far as I know.

If one knows the true history of skinheads, you would know this: The original skinhead movement was NOT a White power movement or a Neo-Nazi movement. And it didn't start in the USA. The skinhead movement started in Great Britain in the 60's. It was about pride in being working class roots. It embraced Afro-Caribbean culture. It started out with White and Black British working class youths. A true skinhead is not a racist. A racist can't be a real skinhead. In fact, racist "skinheads" are called boneheads and anti-racist skinheads are called SHARPs(SkinHeads Against Racial Prejudice). It is when the Neo-Nazi movement infiltrated things that these racist "skinheads" came out of it and that caused a split.
