The one that really gets me now is the 'sea kitty/kitten' campaign with cute cartoon-like fish. We complain about advertising and marketing to kids, and this has to be aimed at kids, (what adult in their right mind) but what the heck is this? How are kids going to be exposed to things like this, schools collecting to donate maybe? I don't know, but the thoughts happen. I couldn't imagine showing a 4 or 5 year old something like that, and then tell them it's fish for dinner...If I were them I wouldn't eat a kitten from the sea or land..., are there broccoli kittens too...It just gets so overboard and bizarre at the same time.

I agree Granny, they just get to be too much. They aim at the children so the parents will take notice. That, I think, is just plain wrong!

Not to mention showing up to this year's Westminster Dog Show dressed as members of the KKK. Tasteful...

Right on Granny! My old company pretty much demanded that we donate a portion of our paychecks to the United Way. I never really saw the point. All they do is take the money and then figure out which non-profits in the community "need it" and then redistribute...all while taking their small cut for operating costs.

The way I figure it I'm smart enough to decide who I think deserves my money more and give it straight to them. There by effectively giving them more for the same $$$'s. Then I found out that the United Way had rules for the groups that took donations from them that regulated how these small organizations raised their own funds. The United Way didn't want them conflicting with their own fund raising efforts...come on now really?!?!?!

Haha, I know I just mentioned the sea kitten thing, bizarre! I'm guessing their whole point is to of course call fish something cute so kids or whoever would just scream & point in horror if they were served it.
