Warpt beat me too it. Yes, the Extended Stay has weekly and monthly rates that approach $60 to $70 per day. Don't know if this is what you are looking for though.

Do you know of any cheaper places? Is there any that have a kitchen in the room?I'm not looking for anything fancy, just a place to have a roof over our head and keep warm.

You could look on craigslist, I have seen some reasonable furnished short term apartments (month to month) for rent in the 700-1000/month range in the last couple months

Summer pricing starts around April 15 or so. Gotta gouge the tourists for all their worth, wouldn't do to get some early bird from Outside getting away with half price rooms now. LOL

Be advised, they are cheap for a reason. All of those cheap motels Barkingowl listed are in the Spenard area. One of the more crime infested areas of Anchorage. They are probably reasonably nice places, but I would never leave anything in one of those rooms unattended. As the adage goes, "you get what you pay for."

I think your best bet would be the extended stay...they all have little cooking kitchens....
Welcome to Extended Stay Deluxe Anchorage - Downtown. Our hotel is designed especially for longer stays with one bedroom suites featuring amenities you won't find in a typical hotel room. - Kitchen with refrigerator, microwave, and stovetop
- Wireless Internet - one time fee of $4.99 per stay
- DVD players
- In-room iron and ironing board
- On-site guest laundry
- On-site fitness center
- Swimming Pool
- Hot Tub
- Shuttle Service
- Deluxe Coffee, fruit, and bagel breakfast Mon-Fri
- Pet Friendly Rooms – View Our Pet Policy
- $66.99 a night
I would advice that you leave the kids in the rental car and and say it's just your hubby, you and 2 kids or they will make you get a 2nd room.
