Yeah, the warm weather a week ago cleared all but a strip of ice about 30 ft long and 2 ft wide on the north side of the house and the big snow came with 50 mph winds/80 mph gusts which left an open spot (an eddy current I suppose) in front of the grill. The NY strips and asparagus I smoked up for the boy's 16th Birthday on Tuesday were AWESOME!

(sorry, had to rub it in-had to break the grill in for the first time this year)

Well, I just got my first hair cut in AK. I know, I waited way too long, last cut was back in MI the end of August.

I have to say that wow, it's 10-15 bucks cheaper here, including tip.

On another note, the main road, Lucille, heading back home is like a war zone with all the potholes. Some of them could swallow a bus. It's really the only bad road I've been on though, all others seem to be holding up well.

Just some random thoughts.

Yeah, I noticed that too - where'd they all come from???? I guess maybe they were hardpacked in with snow that has since melted....

Seems like new, bigger ones, are there every day, just after the others get cold patched.

The potholes in Anchorage are crazy too. Usually they are hidden under the puddles that I drive through

I'll say that 99% of the roads I've driven on around here are in great condition, just this one, and of course I have to drive it every day.

Great news, from Megansmom!

" Hey sorry I was away from the computer. I have been so busy that I just haven't had a chance to touch base with the group. We made it the first year so I guess there is something to say for that. Please tell everyone that we are doing just fine,in fact we are looking to purchase a place closer to Fairbanks because it is just really hard for the kids to be away from their dad so much. I will try and get on there this week and hopefully update everyone."
